Defining add-ons and extras

Overview

Add-ons are supplementary products that customers book together with a main subscription – additional user seats, premium support or storage upgrades, for example. They are billed in the rhythm of the main subscription.

Creating an add-on

  1. Open "Products" → "New product" and select the type "Add-on" ("supplementary product for a subscription").
  2. Enter a name, price (net) and, optionally, description texts – as with any product.
  3. In the "Assignment to main products" section, define where the add-on is offered:
    • "Available for all main products" – the add-on appears with every subscription product.
    • "Only for selected main products" – you select the relevant plans using the product search.

How customers book add-ons

  • In the checkout, the customer selects the supplementary options directly below the main plan.
  • In the backend, you offer add-ons in the "Add subscription" dialog – the "Supplementary options" step.

Add-ons are always booked together with the main subscription: they don't have their own billing interval, they follow the cycle of the main subscription and appear as a separate line item on the same invoices. Adding them later to a subscription that is already running is currently not supported – in that case, create the subscription anew with the desired supplementary options.

Pricing of add-ons

Add-ons support the same pricing models as subscriptions – from a flat price ("Premium support: 19 €/month") to quantity-based pricing ("additional user seat: 5 €/month per seat" via "Bookable multiple times").

  • Quantity pricing in detail – see "Pricing models: monthly, yearly, usage-based"
