Changing your plan while an invoice is open

In short

A plan change takes effect once the open invoice for the current billing period has been paid. Until then, your current plan stays active.

Why does it work this way?

An invoice we have issued stays valid – even if you change your plan afterwards. It covers the period that was billed at the time it was issued and is not retroactively replaced by another one. Your new plan applies from the next billing period onwards.

What this means for you

  • You switch to a smaller plan while an invoice is still open: The change is scheduled and becomes active automatically once your payment has been received. Until then, you keep the features of your current plan.
  • You will not receive a second invoice for a period that already has an open one. Even after a plan change, there is one invoice per billing period.
  • If payment does not come through, the scheduled plan change stays pending as well. We will contact you in that case; your access will not be restricted without notice.

What you can do

Check “Billing” → “Invoices” to see whether an invoice is open. Once it is settled, your scheduled plan change becomes active with the next billing run – you do not need to select it again.

If the payment fails because your stored payment method is no longer valid, update it under “Billing” → “Payment method”. The charge will then be retried automatically.
